If I were,

If I were a piece of song,

music preferably, 

I would be more appreciated

and maybe, useful.

If I were music, 

I can at least influence others,

be it thinking or through emotions. 

My lyrics made you think,

my tone get you to a nostalgia,

my rhythms made you tear up,

or smile.

I can be sad, happy or

whatever I wish to feel and you,

would relate to me,

use me and not put me to waste.

Some may even dedicate me to someone they love,

or hate but at least I'm useful and appreciated. 

Some will hold on to me tight as if their life are depending on me,

I may give strength to others,

reasons to live

or die. 

If I were a piece of song,  

I have a voice of my own, 

my own identity,

and entitled to my own choices.
