Snow the grey

Hi, as you know. I am in love with my cat.

I have not felt love this strong towards someone or something in my life but Snow changed my life (in a way). I am not exaggerating. I really do, love her. In fact, I am madly in love with my cat (and other cats as well but more to snow) (p/s: I'm trying not to be biased)

Anyways, one night, I was dreaming something bad would happened to Snow, not that bad but she was going for treatment and the veterinarian wrapped her in something like a girdle or corset, and snow was meowing like she was in pain. I woke up gasping (dramatic, I know) and it was my first time waking up gasping. Then, I searched for snow and as usual, she would hide herself under the tables or chair and gave me a silent treatment, expecting me to play hide and seek with her. Anyways, when I found her under the bed, I took her in my arms although she was desperate to be released. I kissed and hugged her.

Yeah, I love her that much. Anyways, the sole reason for this post is to update you on Snow's life.
So, she used to eat Fancy Feast which costs close to RM4 and (thankfully) her appetite is growing, so, two cans a day but because Fancy Feast is too expensive, we changed her wet food (p/s: she doesn't eat kibble and yes, we have tried to starve her and only give her kibble but she's stubborn. She only wants wet food). Now, she's eating Cindy's recipe or Frisian and both cost around RM3 per can.

Starting from two months ago, Snow wasn't as naughty as she used to be. The house used to be in a mess when we wake up because there will be torn tissue all over the floor, and the table covers were not on the table but recently, she has mellowed down a bit. She sleeps more now during the day and she will stay awake at night. She doesn't go out of the house much but at times she will want to (especially night time).

Snow used to be white, her whole body was white but now, she grew grey which is why my father calls her Snowbu (bu, as in kelabu, grey). Can you see that she is getting fatter? I am so happy. Although, it is hard to see her gain weight because she has long body and small face, maybe still quite active especially when she's showing her tantrum which is quite often. Anyways, when she sits down, you can see more curves and yeah, I like that.

I thought after one year, she would start to be more social to humans but she still hates human, doesn't like to be stroked (occasionally yes at night time when no one is entertaining her), or held.
Although I really love naughty cats even though they give me scratches (I like scratches from cats tho, it shows that I have a cat) but I do love cats that enjoy being cuddled as well. It's okay tho, I still hugged snow even though she hates it.

That is all from me, here's some more photo of snow!

Stay Strong, Kittens

Recently, very recently, a few kittens have been attacked by raccoon/ musang buah (I really don't know),

I really have no idea what you call that creature but from what I googled, it's musang buah. I mean it can look like raccoon too but I don't even know whether we have raccoon in Malaysia but this animal is so dangerous and vicious. It killed my kittens more than once.

Anyways, at my hostel, specifically my block, there's one female cat with three kittens and another male teenager cat, which I assumed to be the senior batch of the female's cat production. On Thursday, last week, I heard the sound of cat fighting and went out to stop it. Unfortunately, it wasn't cat fighting. It was the musang buah hugging one of the kittens tightly but I showed up in front of the Musang and the kitten, it ran away and drop the kitten into the partition between the drain covers. The kitten fell, leaving some blood and flesh ( I am seriously not exaggerating) around the concrete drain covers.

I went to the mother cat to calm her down because she was so traumatized, meowing for her kitten. As I was going towards her, my other block mates went around to see what had happened and went to the crime scene. Guess what? The freaking monster went back and took the kitten away.

So, after what had happened, my block mates and I had been very careful of any sounds the cat made and this week, on Wednesday, another kitten was badly injured. I heard another weird sound coming out from my room and quickly checked it out, and it was literally in front of my room, hugging, more of choking the kitten in the small drain.

Fortunately, when I went to see it, the musang ran and my other block mates saw it, helped me. I couldn't do anything when the kitten was shaking as if it was experiencing seizure in the drain, so one of my block mates, took it out of the drain and laid it on the ground, while the other went to shoo the monster, as well as making sure it doesn't come back.

The kitten was so bloody, like it was really bloody and it was heavily gasping for air. We tried to stop the bleeding, not me tho. I was scared. Then, we waited for quite a long time because we thought the kitten was going to die soon, there were three bite marks on the kitten's head on both side. So, we can't tilt the head left or right because the bleeding just won't stop. We waited for three hours and the kitten was still alive, so then, we all decided to call the cat club.

Apparently, the club wasn't that useful. After hours and hours of waiting, they weren't that reliable much. So, we took the matter in our own hands and brought it to my room to nurse it. Some of us were busy rotating around the block, guarding all the four openings from the musang. It stayed on top of the roof, at the pipe, watching for opportunities to strike back. Curse that MONSTER!

We came out with a theory that the musang knew that there's kitten there, so they were just waiting for the right moment to attack.

The thing about this kitten is that, she thinks that she can move after laying down, surviving all the blood loss. We literally pressured tissue on the head, trying to stop it but it still ineffective. We used two packets of 50 or maybe 100 tissues in a packet.

Anyways, it was already around 2 in the morning and we all, most of us were not asleep yet. Around 3.30, my roommate got help from someone who offered to bring the kitten to the vet but the guards didn't let us go. So, he had to nurse the wound himself, getting iodine and bandages from the university clinic.

It took us a long time to do this because the kitten was struggling to be released. The wounds were deep because you can see the skull of the kitten. Like I said, we really had to hold the kitten so that it won't move because once it has enough energy restored, it will beserk to be released and it has to be two people to hold it when it moved.

We finished nursing it at around 4.30 in the morning but it moved, so the bandage came off. So we bandaged it another two times because somehow it managed to come off once it went frenzy to move and walk.  We tied it up, hoping it would solve the problem.

I really don't know how it happened, but it managed to release itself from the ribbons and walked towards the wall, reacting to the mother meowing, calling the only healthy kitten left. Speaking of that, we managed to trap the only healthy kitten in my room but it was so scared of human, I bet it almost poop out of fear of humans. So, the mother kept on meowing calling the healthy one and literally ignore the sick one.

I was so pissed although I shouldn't be but the sick kitten was searching for the mother and she didn't even want to get close to it. Anyways, the three of us (the only ones left awake), managed to catch some sleep for probably 30 minutes before a loud thud was heard, the kitten hit its' head and went walking on our suitcases, dragging its' head along the wall, so our wall has blood, a lot of it.

We let the healthy kitten out before we slept and gambled the risk of it, knowing the musang was still out there lurking. The thing is, we wanted to let it be in the room but the mother's meow wasn't helping the injured kitten. It was really difficult bandaging the small head of a kitten when it won't stop squirming. All three of us had to hold it.

I woke up around 6.30 in the morning, roughly still 30 minutes of sleep since I had to be wary of the kitten's condition. I called the cat club again because they promised to bring the kitten to the vet. I called them at 730 am, after applying pressure and removing blood from the kitten. But, they didn't freaking answer the phone and I called for more than 10 times. I called my friend instead to help me with the kitten cause the others had morning class and mine was a little bit later than others.

Thank god my friend is good with cat including injured ones. She helped me a lot since I can't really think straight from the lack of sleep. Finally, the rescue team of the club whatsapped me but she told me she will come at 10. I was so pissed and insisted her to come early, she offered 830 and I agreed. I mean, the kitten has loss a lot of blood, how long can you think it can survived? It survived the whole long night already and I was sure it wasn't going to be as strong as it was.

There were a lot of problem with the team so we decided to rent a car (my roommate did) and brought along the girl from the club to direct us to the vet which opened later than the opening hours stated. The kitten is in ward now, the veterinarian told us that it was medium to severely injured, anemic so, it will be warded. We are just waiting to be contacted by the vet now.

Will update more on the kitten!

I may have written this whole thing badly because I am angry but okay, whatever.

It's all about Snow

(snow says hi)

Hi,
As you know, I have a cat now. A cat that I named after Jon Snow but because I am not around her, she had a lot of name such as Snowbu by my father, cause she's kelabu (grey) now, or Snowy, simply because 'snow' is too short. My lovely sister calls her snow-bling, don't know why.

Anyways,
Snow was so small when I picked her up from the drain (yeah, I'm the hero here *smirks*), around 7 months ago. She went through a lot, I must admit. I was there for only 2 months to be with her and sometimes, if I'm back for the weekend, but that's it. I was depending on my parents and sister to take care of her and they did a great job (at spoiling her).

Do you know that Snow is so spoiled right now? I was so shocked. She is now allowed to be on my parents' bed, like she owns the house. She likes cold water, preferably poured in front of her.
She likes Ice-cream or cereal. You can't leave anything on the table, especially drinks cause she'll go crazy wanting to drink (especially when there's a straw), she'll go insane.

if there's straw, her eyes will sparkles, no kidding.

supposedly a place to put plates but it's hers now

Honestly,
I think my cat is a little bit crazy over flowers and grass because she loves the garden, I was expecting her to socialize with other cats but no, she'll just roll around the grass or, be one of them.

I MEAN, LOOK AT THOSE EYES YOW.

I think Snow knows how to pose now cause she used to be ugly (but still adorable) but now, she's just beautiful, perfection. If you want to see how snow used to look like, you can click here. She'll remove the flower usually, as in she'll remove the petals one by one. It applies to all kind of plants including cactus. For cactus, she usually will rub herself against the cactus and pick it up and bring it around. Pretty cute, isn't it? I think now I can understand why animal abuse happen, sometimes she's so adorable that I feel like hitting her (but of course I didn't, calm down)

Because my sister loves spoiling her, she's been fine dining every single day now. She used to feast on kibbles (whiskas) or normal wet food (vita-pet or whiskas) but now she will only eat fancy feast or any wet food from the small can that cost more than my lunch. She can't even eat royal canin anymore. It's insane, I tell you. Not only that, I have to mash her food cause she can't eat it if it's not mashed. I tried mixing it with small amount of kibbles but she will separate it. I swear my cat is smart.

she wanted to put her head inside my guitar

on the bed cause she's kewl

She can just pull the drawer out and jump into it. She loves high places so that she can see what everyone is doing. She hates being alone so she'll go wherever the crowd goes. My sister bought a lot of toys for her but of course, she didn't even bother playing with it but instead she gets excited seeing plastic and box (or suitcase).

But they say, old habit dies hard. she still has that habit of liking cheap stuff like plastic bag (joke) and she likes to go on my shoulder. I mean, there's an easier way to go to the other side, like walking beside me but no, she would climb on my shoulder and put her butt directly on my cheeks then jump of my shoulder.

And she likes sleeping in between human's leg, or on human's body in between our chest and chin which made me cough the whole night cause I'm allergic to her fur.

That's Snow when she wants to play but sleepy.
I miss Snow.

I'll be updating more when I'm back in Kuching.

A blessing, Oku

OKU stands for Orang Kurang Upaya (the disabled)

I called him Oku ( Pronounce as Oh-Koo)

It was after the Aceh and Kelantan trip. A day after we came back. We had just finished our Hadith class at home. Then my neighbour told us that there was a cat in the drain. There was no reason to feel odd about that cause cats do that sometimes.

Then we realized, after a few days, the cat stayed in the same position and it was raining. We (my brother, Abah and I) tried to get the cat out but the cat spit and hissed at us, literally. He was so fierce, I was really shocked! I went into the huge drain and misplaced my footing due to the loudness of the spitting cat and my palm scraped the side of the rough cement (silly me!). We called out our neighbour to help but that cat was frightening and we tried to carry it using a shovel but it went into a hole. We can't get it out. So, I suggested putting something below the hole so that the cat will land there. We noticed while the cat tried to climb up into the hole, the cat was dragging itself.
The lower part of it's body was dysfunctional.

The next day, the cat refused to go out from the hole. We called the rescue and they came. The tied rope around the cat's neck and pulled it out but in the process, the cat's mouth got scraped by the edge of the hole so a part of it's mouth was bleeding, some teeth were missing.

they got the cat out but it rolled into the watery drain part. So, the whole body was covered by drain water. We showered him and brought him to the vet.
The veterinarian suspected he was a victim of a hit and run.
He had a huge cut on his legs, I could see the bones and cuts on both of his hands. I cried quite badly when I had to nurse him, I mean, just look at that face!

He couldn't walk. Can't eat due to the injury of his mouth. His temperature dropped and he was dehydrated. He was only 3.2 or 3.4 kg

We brought it home. For the first three days, he can't eat and I began to worry. So what I did was, I mixed wet cat food with honey and water through a syringe. I did that for the whole three days, as well as cleaning his cuts and applied cream onto his flesh. Alhamdulillah, on the fourth day, the appetite grew and every meal, He will finished at least 2 packets of wet food.

But there was another problem, he didn't poop or urinated for four days. Thank God, on the day I brought him to the vet, which was the fifth day, he pooped and urinated!

The veterinarian said he was getting better, his temperature was normal and he gained weight to 3.6 kg. I was really happy that Oku was getting better. Tho the veterinarian did say that he has 50% of walking but I had faith in him.

Oku was really lovable cause after I fed him and gave him medicine, he would meowed to me, wanting me to pet him. So I laid down beside him while he rested his body on my arm or palm while I stroke.

oh, that was Snow being jealous of Oku.

Look at Snow's paw. Literally latching on my thigh like I am a furniture, more scratches.

After a week, he can already licked himself, appetite grew as much as 2 wet food packet and a bowl of dry food.
Unfortunately, being disabled and old (he was assumed to be 8 years old). Oku wasn't loved as much as Snow. I was the only one pouring my heart to him, as well my brother (but not as much as me). The others loved him as well but they just don't know how to.
Still healing, he was still unable to move, he pooped and urinated at the same spot he sat. His pee flowed all over his body. He was smelly and I couldn't shower him cause his wounds was still visible and open.

This was how well he was! well, not exactly but at least he could stand a bit.

For almost two weeks with Oku, he was getting better and better. He could dragged himself out of his box and climbed onto a chair even when he couldn't walk. He was getting stronger. He would place his paws on my shoulder, probably hugging me (hehe) but his lower part was still badly ridden, I guess since he can't control his bowel movement.

Unfortunately, we could not let Oku be inside the house. I was really worried cause I tried putting it outside but cats will try to pick a fight to my poor Oku and there were snakes in our neighbourhood. Being stronger, Oku will also climbed out of his box and he did.

I tried letting it go to the Animal Centre but they don't take stray animals anymore ( Then don't yourself Animal centre *roll eyes*). We went to a few vet and none wanted Oku. Earlier this day, I went to the vet one last time with Oku

The veterinarian said he was really getting better. He gained another 0.2 kg. I went alone so I had to place Oku on the chair to proceed to the counter, collecting his medicine and paying but he went crazy meowing and wanted to fall out of the box. Turned out he just wanted to be held by me cause other humans tried to pet him but he went crazy. I mean under normal circumstances, he would hiss to anyone except for me (really, not bragging). So with Oku in my arms, I payed and drove home.

Not being able to put him inside the house, I tried to block any opening for him to escape the box but probably Oku sensed that he wasn't wanted, during dawn, my mum checked on him and he was already gone.

gone

gone

we searched the whole neighbourhood at different time but he wasn't anywhere in sight.

How did he dragged himself?

Is he still alive?

Why isn't he coming back?

I need my baby back.

Honestly, when I knew I had to let him go. I hugged him, crying for hours and he placed his paws on my shoulders. But when I knew he was gone, I couldn't cry cause was it really happening? I was so occupied with Oku, snow was jealous when he was around. I literally lived in the kitchen with Oku all the time.

But it was all real. he's gone.

Come back, please.

At least let me see you walk, prove that you are worth.

come back, my beautiful Oku.

You Know Nothing, Jon Snow!

It is pretty obvious that I love cats.
and guess what...

I have a cat now.
It has been a really long time since I own a pet.
The last time I had a cat was probably when I was 12, and I am 20 now!

Just after Eid, my family and I have been going out for visiting and we constantly heard
'meows' not too far from our house.
We searched for the kitten and look what we found

Hello, my name is Snow.
It was after Jon Snow cause my mother (me) or maybe sister thought I knew nothing.
They didn't know that I WAS smart, maybe still is.

I was abandoned by my mother (real cat, not me haha).

anyways, back to me.

We found Snow, dirty and smelly at night. I wanted to shower it right away but my mum didn't let me cause it was at night (silly me!). So, I anticipated the next day just give this baby a shower!
I love showering cats! okay, that was quite random but I do love it.

we showered Snow

look at how small she is. Anyways, we brought Snow to the vet. The veterinarian said that Snow wasn't fit for vaccination cause she was underweight. Oh, she was one and month old.

She was really really tame in a way that, she needed a lot of human touch. From the first time we found her, she will always climbed up our shoulder. She was really afraid of everything, literally. She gave her a really small ball and she ran and climbed up our shoulders. Such a cutie, I know but that didn't quite last long.

On the fifth day, she was getting healthier but her poop was still very very watery. She was so afraid that even when I brought her to the mirror to see herself, she would poop brown water (gross, I know). Whenever we tried to play with her,we have to be so aware cause whenever she farted, she will just poop. We got worms removed from her. Her poop was so disgusting thanks to the long worms.

We bought her a collar, a red one but it was too big for her. When we tried to put it on her, it will slide to the body. She was that small! oh, and she had fungus on her nose and I kissed her everyday without realizing it.

Trust me, the collar wasn't just there, it slipped through her body.
This picture was taken the night before I left for a short vacation.

It was a vacation where I longed for Snow. I mean, I was so occupied with her and suddenly she wasn't there and she wasn't exactly healthy yet cause her diarrhea was bad.

When I was finally home after probably 8 to 10 days, She was bigger and healthy.

She was really heavy as compared as she used to be and very vicious. She can't see hands and legs without biting and scratching it.
I literally have scratches at all parts of my body because Snow thinks that everyone is a furniture. Whenever I sit and she want to go up she will jumped from the ground and latched on my legs and skin. So yeah. This cat is crazy but I love her.

When we had Oku with us, she will attacked Oku. No kidding!

So yeah, She is the love of my life. Although she doesn't like human touch right now cause she literally play with everything she sees. And every time I shower her, she will always go back and roll in her poop..
but I love her, a lot.

The Cat Journey

Meow

I am pretty much cat deprived and sleep deprived
I have not been sleeping more than 2 hours for this week.
and somehow I can only sleep after 6 am.

I don't think I can handle reading another article. I have been reading thousands of articles.

So, the cat journey!

Around 2 weeks ago, I feel like I lost my child because I had to part with...

here's the story

On one fine day, I was really tired from class, I thought of sleeping but of course that did not happen.
A friend called me. She was panicking, telling me about a poor sick kitten she found near the engineering building.
My other two friends who are also cat freak had class so they told my friend (the one panicking on the phone) to bring it to me while the two of them went to buy milk for the kitten.
So, she did.

We named her ( I am pretty sure, it is a her) Cinnamon.
Cinnamon was really smelly. She could not even opened up her eyes and she kept on sneezing.
She was really sick cause when she meows, there's no sound. So, at first I thought cinnamon was deaf and mute but Alhamdulillah she responded to sounds.

Anyways,
So I bought egg and boiled it (sort of, in a tupperware of hot water) and I tried feeding cinnamon and give it milk.

But somehow I think she was really tired and her fever was pretty bad. I tried to shower her (dabbing slightly wet cloth with warm water).

It was quite a challenge taking care of Cinnamon.

Because I was sleeping at around 4 am, I slept the whole morning with Cinnamon beside me. Unlike the day before, today she was very active. She ate more too!

This picture, she was biting my finger and suddenly she fell asleep.

Unfortunately, my friend and I could not take care of her, I was worried not knowing where I can leave Cinnamon.

A bit off topic but I can't recall myself praising my University. I kept on highlighting how bad it is instead of saying the positive side of it not that there's a lot. Here goes of one of the thing I love about my University,
I am thankful, very grateful that my university has a club for cat. It is called Abu Hurairah Club. Apparently this club has a rescue team for stray cats. So I called them and they really have good service.

They brought Cinnamon to the vet and now cinnamon is living happily but not in my hostel building. It felt really empty when I had to let her go but that is the best for her, I believe.

Anyways, the chorus in this song (This is Gospel) is "If you love me, let me go"
Hence, I'm letting cinnamon go.

Anyways, after two or three days of feeling down cause I really miss cinnamon.
Came... Munchkin!

I think the management took the mother away. So, Munchkin is always here either at my floor on one floor below.
She, also very smelly, is very active.
Such a sweetheart.

So, for now munchkin is my joy.
I look forward going back from class to see munchkin.

um,
Just as I was about to post this, my friend called me bearing bad news

"Tae, munchkin died"

It was attacked by a "Musang Buah", we have a lot of that in my university.
My friend tried to stop the musang, she even threw her shoes at it but it kept on attacking munchkin. She then somehow managed to shoo it away and brought munchkin to the vet
but it was too late.

we'll bury it tomorrow.
In our memory, Munchkin, forever.

The End for now

Stress Reliever

I love cats.
It is pretty obvious tho

Yeah, like I said earlier, I think (somewhere in this blog),
Degree life wasn't easy at all.
How did you guys cope up with everything?
All the research writing and all?

I broke down a few times honestly.
so tired.

But in a few occasions,
where the day started of very tense
cats somehow will come to me and play
(Alhamdulillah)

these cats showed up when my class was cancelled. It was a very tiring day, I had been writing my SOP since morning. So after I knew my class was cancelled, I saw them and started playing with them.
So adorable, I swear.
There's a black one somewhere but it was running around.

This orange cat, we (Yana and I) named it Gandalf.
Why? because it responded to that name.
I tried garfield but I guess this cat hate stereotype of it's colour.
Unfortunately, the management people moved me to a new hostel (a different building),
away from gandalf.

I was really sad.

On the bright side, at my new place, I found cloudy!
I don't think cloudy is a stray cat. Too beautiful to be a stray cat.
Cloudy on the other hand, not like other cats that will go to people and expected to be stroked.
Instead, cloudy just runs into Yana's room but do not want to be stroked. You can play with it like what I did in the pictures but it was quite a challenge.

I really appreciate the fact that in my university, there's a lot of cats.
I love all of them
going to catch them all.

here's some nice wallpaper of cats I found on facebook!
