Calligraphy // Brush lettering

HI!

I have always been a fan of pretty stuff (or art). When I was little,
my mum had this book about calligraphy technique. So,
whenever I visited the stationery store, I would always try out
the calligraphy pens.

When I was 16, my mum and I joined calligraphy classes, to
be more specific, Arabic calligraphy. These are my evidence.
I'm not exactly proud of showing this but whatever.

Eventually, I stopped after entering the second level of this class.
I'm not kidding but this was really hard for me. The second level
was when I was 17 and I have SPM. Although doing this calligraphy
calmed me but it was just too difficult.

You have to breathe properly whenever you write, and I wasn't using pen
to write it down. I used bamboo, dipping it with ink. I was really
difficult. The class had exams which made it not enjoyable.
I stopped halfway.

After PLKN, I adopted the habit of writing journal once again.
I have always loved writing diary or journal but I am not
consistent. I get bored easily.

Like I said earlier, I love pretty stuff and my journal was
too plain. I needed more colours and art in it but I didn't know
what to add. Once I entered foundation, I have a friend who
does brush lettering and it was so beautiful.

These are her works.

You can see more of her brush lettering art here - @artmalia

FREAKING BEAUTIFUL!

Anyways, she gave me an hour of tutoring session when I was
in my short semester but as expected, mine is so ugly.

Also, I have another friend who does all this as well. He snapchatted
a lot of his work and the process of brush lettering which made
me more interested in brush lettering.

I whatsapped him one day, asking him to make some brush lettering
art for me.

You can see more of his work here!

So, after seeing my friends doing all these, I started as well but
I am still a beginner and, trying to be good at it as well.

Anyways, here are some pictures of my journal

I usually write in detail form first in my planner, then I will elaborate
everything in my journal. Usually, I include receipt/ tickets as well in my
journal!

This is me practicing my brush lettering. I still have a lot to improve.

So yeah, that's it for my brush lettering journey.

What do you think?

Bye!
